EB Music
Brand Kit
Brand Guidelines and Official Logo for EB Music
The EB Music Brand Kit was a project made for my Public Relations course in my junior year at Fitchburg State University. For this assignment, I was tasked with finding a client to make a public relations plan for. I decided to reach out to my old high school's music department. As their print advertising and social media accounts are primarily managed by students, we decided to create a set of brand guidelines for the department. This brand kit would be simplistic enough for high school level designers to understand and follow, and would allow the opportunity for their advertising to have a distinct and recognizable look moving forward. This project was my first dip into creative freedom. As the program had no previous guidelines, they looked to me for my expertise in the matter. Together, we crafted an official logo, color scheme (based off of the East Bridgewater High School's official colors), and thoughtful brand guidelines.
Key Points
Setting the Tone
Giving EB Music a set tone of voice allowed fluency across all documentation created for them. When we talk about a brand "identity", we truly mean giving EB Music a voice and face to recognize. The tone of voice also reflects EB Music's Brand Ideals.
Official Colors
Setting up EB Music with official colors also allowed fluency, as previously many documents had a variation of colors and accents. This official color scheme is easy enough to understand and be used by student designers and also serves to go in depth on the meaning behind each color, allowing them to stand for and support the brand.
Official Logo
The EB Music Department never had an official logo prior to my collaboration with them. They had a slogan that they would create merchandise with, but no true visual identifier of EB Music. In creating the EB Music logo, I gave the brand recognizability that could be used across all forms of media. The modified "M" can also be an icon of its own, being the main point of the logo.
Photo Use
Giving EB Music guidelines for photo use was for two purposes: tell users of the kit the proper placement of images in their marketing, and to give guidelines on how to create their own photos (or find them through stock images). I also included instructions on logo placement within photo use, allowing brand recognizability in tandem with promoting instrumental features.
