Our Reckoning Advertising Proposal

Advertising Proposal for the Our Reckoning Production

The Our Reckoning Advertising Proposal was the main project for my Multimedia Project Design course. This was a highly competitive course, as there multiple proposals made for the Our Reckoning production, but only one proposal was chosen by the client as a winner. Our Reckoning is a performance put on by the Fitchburg State University Theater program. The client asked for a proposal for advertising at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, where the department would be hosting multiple performances of Our Reckoning. Working with a team of highly skilled and organized individuals, we created and presented a proposal that won the favor of the client.

My Duties

For the Our Reckoning Advertising Proposal, I was assigned the role of Graphic Designer. From logo design to product proofing to the entire format of the final proposal, I designed every aspect of this project. The performance of Our Reckoning itself is powerful, breathtaking, and memorable. Therefore, I tasked myself with creating a proposal that evoked the same feelings. From color scheming to text, I gave Our Reckoning a brand identity that allowed recognizability and drew attention.

Working remotely during a pandemic, the perseverance of my team and I to create a proposal that flowed incredibly and showcased Our Reckoning as a bold entity was no easy feat, but I couldn't be more proud of this project, and winning the favor of the client was plenty reward.

Logo Development

The logo for Our Reckoning evolved multiple times before coming to it's final form. The initial color scheme was purple and yellow, representative of the Me Too Movement and the Black Lives Matter movements - key themes in the performance. The logo initially took a bulky circle form, with the circle encasing the logos words. This logo changed form as we realized a logo that was more centric on the words would be bolder and more recognizable. The circle evolved from having many tear drops to having only 9, which was symbolic of the 9 monologues that made up the Our Reckoning performance. After reviewing the logo with our client, we worked together to create the logo's final form. The color purple was scrapped, as it historically represented royalty, and the nine teardrops were evened out in size, as no persons struggle is greater than another's. The color crimson was implemented, as it represented the blood that has been shed through the topics discussed in Our Reckoning. The gradient from red to yellow was meant to be symbolic of movement towards a brighter future, and in place of the original theater symbol, we added a hand reaching towards the yellow of the gradient. This symbolizes that Our Reckoning is a performance about reaching towards a brighter future.
